Ashley is the owner of InCourage Counseling.  She is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with Master’s Degrees in Marriage and Family Therapy, as well as Professional Clinical Counseling from Adler Graduate School in Minnesota.  She was born and raised in North Central Iowa, and has been providing mental health services to children and adults in the area for over 11 years. She has been in the field for 14+ years and has a passion for supporting patients of all ages, especially so for children and adolescents.

Besides providing individual, couples, and group services, she has also provided clinical supervision for interns and held the Children’s Services Team Lead role in past agencies.

Ashley’s focus is on empowering individuals to create more purpose-driven lives, designed by their most authentic selves through in-person and telehealth therapy appointments.

She enjoys working with individuals and families to navigate the challenges of life, whether they are personal, with family, or with peers. Her areas of interest include anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral issues, transitions and adjustments, self-esteem, grief and loss, and parenting skills.

Ashley has an approachable and welcoming demeanor, sense of humor, and a down-to-earth nature.  She has an eclectic approach, utilizing various theoretical approaches and real-life experience. She caters her approach to each client’s individual therapeutic needs and utilizes a strength-based perspective.

Additionally, she is trained in multiple evidence-based models such as, EMDR Sandtray, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Adolescent DBT, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cool Kids Chilled Curriculum, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), and play therapy techniques, among many others.

She is passionate about helping patients work through their hardest life experiences so that they are able to live more rewarding lives. She is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and LifeSpan Integration (LI) Therapy, two forms of therapy that help people heal from trauma and distressing life experiences. Experiencing trauma can block the brain’s natural way to recover from distressing events and has seen how amazing these forms of therapy can be for my clients. She looks forward to helping future clients with their pain.
